Alison Malone Eathorne (right) holds a Master of Arts from Griffith University in Brisbane, Australia, a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Ontario and a Bachelor of Education from Vancouver Island University. She is a writer, editor and communications expert specializing in travel, food and interior design. Alison has contributed to Pacific YachtingWestern Living, BC Home, Vancouver View, Where Vancouver, Where Whistler, Journeys West, Appeal, TVWeek and BC Business. She is an elementary school teacher and mother of two young boys.

Hilary Malone (left) holds a Diploma in Culinary Arts from Vancouver Island University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Victoria. After winning the gold medal for her traditional and modern interpretations of coq au vin at Skills Canada’s BC competition in 2013, Hilary represented her province at the national-level competition, winning bronze. The fearless cook in our family, she has honed her culinary skills at The Pointe at The Wickaninnish Inn and Sooke Harbour House, and has worked in catering and special events. A longtime recipe contributor to Vancouver View, she has a keen eye for food photography and styling. Hilary has parlayed her passion for agriculture into planning an extensive organic vegetable garden.

Lorna Malone (centre) has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Ontario and is a former teacher, community volunteer and event coordinator with the Canadian Wood Council’s Wood WORKS! BC program. Her passions include sailing, cuisine and horticulture. Lorna’s many cruising and racing adventures—including those where she has cooked for eight sailors in a compact galley—have fostered her extensive knowledge of boating in this region and have inspired her to cook with island ingredients.
